At some point in August, we went to see SKY HIGH...it was a Sunday matinee (12:00) at the new theatre in Bastrop. When we got there, the theatre was already chock full of little kids... My first thought was to run screaming, but we stayed.
Now here's the thing, this -was- my best movie theatre experience to date. Those kids were in that theatre with parents that were so attentive and so good, they made my little dusty heart swell up with pride in the fact that, yes, some people actually are decent parents. (It should be known that at some point last year, we went to see CATWOMAN at this same theatre on a Monday night, about 9ish. There were 4 other people in the theatre that night...a single guy, and a mother/father/son/daughter. I hate them. I really do. They allowed their son to jump down every stair in the theatre, climb over every seat, scream, fall, kick. And when I was finally fed up and stood up to get their attention, they ignored me. Finally Daryl went to get the manager. The manager came in and the husband left with the son...the movie ended five minutes later.)
Anyhow, these little kids were silently engrossed. Their little legs were too small to kick my seat! They did not get up to go to the bathroom. The little precious one beside me even said "Hi!" twice, because the first time I didn't realize he was talking to me. He was probably 4 years old...God I love that kid.
I left that theatre so happy that I forgot to post here!!
SKY HIGH was an entertaining movie, and from what I recall, I liked it. So I will give it a B-.
Interesting sidenote, the Management at the Bastrop theatre showed THE FOG as a preview... It scared the little kids...some were crying. *sigh* Real good, guys.
